They ensure people are receiving the right healthcare, and encourage early detection, diagnosis and intervention for common and treatable conditions that cause morbidity and early mortality.
Clients are entitled to a $30 card at the completion of their health assessment and following their course of care.
Medical Transport
Visiting Allied Health Clinicians:
Medical transport is only available for Indigenous clients who have no means of transport to get to the clinic or specialist appointments.
Medical transport for your clinic or specialist appointments should be booked at the time that you make your appointment and at least 48 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment.
TACKLING INDIGENOUS SMOKING
Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) is a population health promotion program funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Health.
The DWECH TIS team are part of a national network of Tobacco control workers who develop and implement a range of activities to discourage youth uptake of smoking, inform pregnant smokers on the harm of smoking during pregnancy as well as educating the broader community on smoking and its damaging effects.
TIS provides information and education to communities through stalls at events, information sessions at schools, workplaces and institutions and works in with local and national programs such as the Aboriginal Quitline programs, ensuring that those wanting quit advice and assistance are well supported on their journey.
